Batmobile Creator George Barris Dead - TMZ.com

George Barris , the creator of the amazing 1966 Batmobile and many other legendary whips . has died. Barris' most famous car was surely the one Adam West drove during the " Batman " TV show. The Batmobile sold at auction in 2013 for $4. 62 million. Barris died early Thursday.

HUMMELS WHARF — The initial rush had dwindled by Saturday afternoon at the Winross Toy Show inside the Susquehanna Valley Mall, and Larry Warfel remembered what the rush had been like when the hobby boomed two decades back. Interest in the diecast models faded like the sight of a tractor-trailer driving beyond an Interstate horizon, towing once-high prices along. Warfel, of New York, held out a Ralston Purina model that fetched $300 or more years ago. Other models were much cheaper. Warfel and friends from the Winross Collectors Club of America sat and chatted as shoppers passed back and forth, a few glancing at the toys and few others stopping to look. The local show was sponsored by the Susquehanna chapter of the Winross Collectors Club.
