Bulma's motorcycle has finally been given the S.H.Figuarts treatment.Ollie Barder
While many love Dragon Ball for its fights and characters, it’s worth highlighting that Akira Toriyama is also an entirely brilliant mecha designer as well. One of the earliest examples of this is his iconic design for Bulma’s motorcycle, something Bandai Spirits has brought to life in a wonderful new toy.
Bulma actually has three bikes in total and this white one is one of the earliest we see, as both Bulma and Goku search for the elusive Dragon Balls.
It’s a very distinctive design, with bulging wheel guards and a wrap over canopy, something that various model kits and other figures have tried to do justice over the years.
What’s different here is that this bike is now done to scale with the other S.H.Figuarts toys, something that the Dragon Ball series has a great many number of.
Firstly, it’s worth addressing the elephant in the room here, while this is Bulma’s motorcycle, there is no Bulma figure included in this set. There are additional parts for the S.H.Figuarts Bulma (sold separately) but the only figure included in this set is a cheerfully silly Kid Goku that sits on the back seat.
With this aside, the bike itself is a lot more than other S.H.Figuarts releases and is closer to a high-end Metal Robot Damashii toy.

This is because the bike uses extensive diecast for the chassis and other engine parts. Not only does this strengthen the overall toy, but it also helps with the weight distribution as well.
You have a kick-out stand that can have the bike left stationary and the steering is handled nicely too. The wheels can move as well, meaning you can make motorbike noises as you push it along the floor. Not that I did that mind you, but it’s an option at least.
There is also a stand included to hold the bike upright and the canopy can also be easily removed.
Put simply, there is a lot more available here for what would normally be cursory addition to a Dragon Ball toy line. This is a very well made and thought out toy, with a surprising amount of diecast involved.
So if you are a proper Dragon Ball fan that actually follows the whole series, rather than just Dragon Ball Z, then you absolutely need to pick this up.
This S.H.Figuarts Bulma’s Motorcycle is released at the end of this month and can be pre-ordered from Amazon for a very reasonable $72. If you don’t already have an S.H.Figuarts Bulma, then you can also pick one up from Amazon for $44.95.
